May Meeting Notes

• DIRECTORY Updates none. Copies made available.
• MINUTES: NOTES from meetings posted as Blogger Update for review. April approved as posted.
• CALENDAR: Summer Break. Will possibly do one summer fun event and resume monthlies Sat. Sept. 9th. Carol will check on meeting space at Carson Tahoe Hospital as we are growing.
• TREAS. REPORT: given by Barb for Marge G. Balance on 5/11/06 $1,089.46 - detail attached. Clarify Wounded Soldier vs. Wounded Warriors – leisure rehab, job rehab, placement, hands on. $100 approved for each.

• UPDATES ON SONS/DAUGHTERS:
o Leslie’s son Henry will go to Iraq in January. Her youngest son William just joined Navy and is an aspiring combat medic.
o Marge’s son Stuart discharged to home around Mother’s Day, is now a teller at B of A and starting back to UNR in fall. Hoooorah felt by this BSM.
o Barbara’s son Patrick got his ship asst. and port in San Diego. Will be out 6 months in August.
o Joy’s son Christopher home June 12th; Iraq mid-July, then to Italy. Will finish degree in Army. Tidbit: his ancestry raised the flag at Bunker Hill.
o Heather’s son Travis will see his first deployment shortly to green zone Iraq to do supplies.
o Carol’s son Joe is making headway with much support. Praise report given.
o Jeanne’s son Jason anticipating discharge in August following 4 years service inc. Iraq & Afghanistan.
o Paula’s son Josh is now connected to PJ’s adopted military daughter Lynn. Nevada’s still family even overseas.
o Sally’s son Sean was presented the Bronze Star. Sally had an incredible bonding 2 week visit with him, his lovely wife and four kids in Germany. He’ll take online courses through Ft. Lewis.

• NEW BUSINESS:
o PJ’s Web of Support update given. LMNO Productions is doing War Zone Diaries on the Military Channel over Memorial Day Weekend. JLonsdale@LMNOTV.com or contact PJ to send digital camera video clips.
o Annual BSM Report due – Barb to check with Treas. Marge on format.
o Barb has contact info for Joe Conti donating free playing cards to military from Nv. Casino. Deployment Support Comm. to keep on file.
• COMMITTEE REPORTS:
o Welcome: Two member prospects to be followed up with personal contact, application.
o Deployment Support: No report. PJ is planning another Support Rally with CD’s/DVD’s donated to ship.
o Blue to Gold: Misner contact made. Winnemucca first to be followed up on. Freedom Memorial groundbreaking photos on file with Jeanne to update blogspot shortly.
o Op Postcard: Clover Clips publication for 4-H shared with group. Op Postcards were received by two 4-H clubs thus far, Cotton Patch Gospel Lobby booth, as well as BSM classes in the community. These were bundled and sent to the USS Ronald Reagan Chaplain as Carol’s son is on board. The remainder will be shipped to Kate Orr’s Project for distribution on July 4th Independence Day. Pres. Barb will place community thank you in newspaper and Secty. Jeanne will mail thank you’s.

• OLD BUSINESS:
o Carryover - Comm. Structure / Chairs / Members will be developed by Barb and placed on blogspot. She’ll also look at a way to keep a donation section on permanently for in kind and cash donations for mailing/shipping expenses for deployment support.
o Cotton Patch Gospel’s Producer Jim DeZ put together a DVD with Broadway score over with pictures submitted of a lot of our guys/gals. PJ will send to LMNO Productions; Jeanne to give to Ann York with Carson Senior Center Follies fund-raiser with military theme to play continually from May 22 – June 2.
o Sept. Agenda: Marge prepare projected annual budget with donations commited/out; Op Postcard for Christmas Holiday Season; NV Day Op Postcard & Donation Booth.
